One of the earliest schools in Shiner, Texas was built in the year 1890. This building was constructed of wood and was built by interested citizens in the Shiner community. As the population of Shiner continued to grow, there was a need to build a larger school building. In 1911, a new brick school building was built to house Shiner students. In 1927, and after sixteen years of serving Shiner ISD, this building was considered unsafe and too small for Shiner’s school children, so a new school building was built in 1928. Many additions were made to this building over the years to handle student growth. It served the Shiner community well as the Shiner ISD school building for all students until 2007. In 2007, Shiner ISD constructed a new school building at 510 CR 348 next to the football field. Again, due to student growth, a bond was passed by Shiner taxpayers to build a junior high building next to the current school building. This new junior high building opened for students in 2018. Shiner ISD is a great place for our students, parents, and community. Shiner ISD strives to continue a tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and other extracurricular activities, so we can provide the world with well-rounded young men and women who are ready in every way to achieve great success.
